Geneva

The World Economic Forum's Headquarters are in Geneva, Switzerland. I recently had the opportunity to go there for some initial training. I will be going back there next month for some time and will most likely be headed in that direction quite frequently.

Geneva itself is an interesting city- not certain where it sits in my order of European hot spot preferences. It definitely isn't London or Amsterdam, but it still is pretty. The city shuts down quite early, unlike NYC. It is also quite pricey. However, it is nice going there and getting away from the hustle and bustle here in Manhattan.

OLIVER

So, I am a terrible blogger and am a bit late with posting. We finally got our puppy in April. His name is Oliver, a wire-haired terrier, and he is quite the handful! However, we absolutely adore this little guy and are definitely happy with our decision. He is now 6 months old and just a joy to be around.

World Economic Forum

After 4 months of travel, studying, job hunting and sleeping in, I have now accepted a position with the World Economic Forum USA. My start date is the 24th of March. I am really excited about this opportunity and feel I made the right decision.

To learn more about the Forum click on the blog title. The work they do, and the discussions held with regard to global economic and social development are pretty amazing. I will miss my relaxed schedule but am also looking forward to getting back to the grind! :)

MA Graduation 2008

I recently completed a Masters in Policy from King's College London. It was a wonderful experience. I was one of two Americans in the department. Everyone else came from the UK, Germany, Turkey, Greece, China and other locations.

Here are a few pics from the graduation ceremony I thought I would share.

Back in the US

So, we are now back in the US, living in Northern New Jersey, minutes from NYC. We enjoyed our first Christmas together in the US. We are slowly getting use to the lifestyle here but are both missing England. Our plans of living in the US are not so set in stone, and I imagine we'll be back in London in a few years time.

Mark has been promoted to VP at Lehman Bros, and I am still on the jobhunt. I have been taking my time, as I have traveled back to Utah and will be traveling to Alaska to spend time with family. Living in London always made that difficult, so I am trying to spend as much time as possible with family while we are on the same continent!

I will soon be volunteering as a research associate for the American Red Cross. I love volunteer work and look forward to working with the nonprofit sector.

We will be moving once again to a permanent home in two months. I am really looking forward to this, as I will finally be getting a Welsh Terrier. Yea!

All is well in our neck of the woods- we have a warm home, food on the table and a big suv for getting around. This little (or shall I say large) luxury was our one splurge for our lifestyle here in the US. With the cost of petrol in the UK, we will most likely downgrade when we move back! :)

Most importantly, we are both happy and are now enjoying our time here in the US.
